Corner cabinet with sink

Cabinets are in and tile is being installed today.  Here is a look at the new sink location in the corner cabinet near the window.   Second picture shows the old sink location.

Bree and Marcia have decided on paint colors so we will be seeing some color changes in the days ahead.  This next week we will see trim going back on, appliances delivered, plumbing and electrical trim out and paint.

Kitchen Remodel

REcreateNW is a week and a half into the full kitchen remodel of Bill and Marcia's home. We've removed cabinets and opened their walls for the purpose of updating plumbing and electrical. Can lights, under-cabinet lighting and custom above-cabinet lighting are a few components of the transformation.  Bree, the design director, believes that lighting is the key consideration in any design project.  "We, who live in and love the Northwest, must create spaces of light that warm us from the inside out."
In the demo part of the process we were pleasantly surprised to find a soffit (false wall) behind the new location for the refrigerator.  This discovery has allowed us to re-frame the wall.  By placing the refrigerator further back, they will have the bonus of a "counter depth" fridge without the added cost.  By cutting a 3'x 4' opening in the kitchen/living room wall, we have visibly expanded the space and shared light from kitchen into living room and visa-versa.  The effect will dramatically increase the overall open feel of the house from the moment you step in the front door. For another wide-open outcome, the existing door into the kitchen was enlarged for better flow. Old  flooring has been removed and will be replaced.  A new fiberglass 1/2 light door with built in mini-blinds replaces its plywood predecessor as an access to the backyard.  This week will see sheet rock back on the walls, flooring being installed, ducting for new microwave hood vent completed with a toe kick heat register introducing floor warmth for first time.  Tuesday, the cabinets arrive for install. Extreme Home Makeover has nothing on us as all of  this has been happening while the homeowners are away enjoying some vacation time.  We are excited for them to return to a REcreated space.  Welcome home, Bill and Marcia!
